Welcome to my new segment called “Passing High School” where I’ll be sharing some of my experiences and tips on how to pass your classes, deal with people, and get through all the frustrations of high school.
As much as I enjoyed my high school years, I would not go back, PERIOD. All the angst and drama is just— no but don’t get me wrong. High school was fun for me despite all the frustrations. It’s something everyone needs to go through. It’s a once in a lifetime type of experience. You learn a lot of things about yourself and you grow a lot as a person, but I know how high school can be. That’s why today I’m going to give you guys a couple of tips to keep you sane throughout your four golden years of high school!
1. Grab Your Popcorn, Sit Back, & Watch Your Dramas
I love the spring season, not so much the summer since it gets really unbearably hot where I live. Anyways because of the hot temperatures I always find myself wearing a t-shirt and some shorts or something that’s really light & breezy. It’s hard for me to really get into the spring/summer trends because I just really want something where I won’t overheat.
But I’ve been really impressed with this season’s trends. There’s lots of bright colors and interesting prints, cutouts, and textures. Today I’ll be sharing my top 3 must haves for the spring/summer seasons!
1. The Maxi
I know I wrote a similar guide last year about how to get through your essays, but I feel like some people still have a hard time grasping English and/or essays. So instead of going about this the normal route where people would normally talk about grammar, organization, things in that nature, I thought I’d give you some tips to think about when writing.
Now I was born in the Philippines, and when I came to America English was really hard for me. When I started school, I literally cried every day because I couldn’t understand anything, so I completely understand how English and writing can be really complicated. Hopefully some of the things I learned will help some of you out there.
1. Find Something Meaningful to Say
I was never really a Starbucks addict. I occasionally bought a frappucino or two, but for the most part it was eh. That is until recently! Finals were a few weeks ago, and since I had no time to eat between studying I had to just buy food at the campus cafeteria. I decided to try the Shaken Tea from Starbucks, and I fell in love! It’s so good that I became easily addicted!
Now I’ve pretty much figured out how they made it. It’s pretty easy, affordable, and refreshingly addicting! There are all kinds of tea and flavors that you can mix, so go ahead and experiment!
1 cup water
1/2 lemon (optional)
2 bags of your choice of tea
1 tablespoon agave nectar
At the age of 21:
I realized that I don’t need to compare myself with other people.
I realized that I can take my time & go at my own pace.
I realized that I don’t have to be ashamed of my body, face, brain, or ambitions.
I realized that I shouldn’t get caught up with what’s happening around me.
I realized that I have feelings and emotions but they should never ever take a hold of me.
I realized that I do not need to make friends just to make friends. I’d rather have 5, 4, 3, 2, or even 1 really good friend than a dozen or hundred that I don’t even really know.
I realized that I can go on my own path than follow the one everyone is on.
I realized that I’ve become more at peace with myself & the world around me.
